What is the difference between Lace Closure, Lace Frontal a Wigs?

As you consider different wig styles, it’s important to understand the differences in wig cap structures. Each type of wig – lace closure, lace frontal, and full lace – has its unique characteristics, advantages, and disadvantages.

A lace closure wig has a small piece of lace sewn across the crown of the wig usually measured as 4x4" 4x5" 6x6" or 7x7", which can be either side or center parting. This section of lace enables you to create a natural-looking parting and add more volume to your hair. Since the lace closure can be worn glueless, glued or sewn down, it’s essential to maintain proper care of the edges where the closure meets the hair. This style is a great option if you’re looking for a more affordable and less time-consuming option. We usually recommend this type of cap structure for beginners; on our website you'll find this in the beginner friendly section.

The lace frontal wig, on the other hand, features a larger piece of lace that covers the entire hairline, from ear-to-ear. The lace frontal has more room to work with when creating different hairstyles, allowing you to create a natural-looking hairline and part from any angle. The measurements of these wigs can be 13x4" or 13x6" for those who prefer a deeper parting space. This wig type provides more versatility and allows you to wear your hair up in different styles.

Lastly, the full lace wig is constructed entirely out of lace, which means the hair is hand-tied to the individual strands of lace rather than on a wig cap. This structure allows the hair to be parted anywhere, providing maximum versatility and a more natural look. The entire wig can be worn with glue, glueless or tape, and can even be worn in a high ponytail, updos and braids.

Full Lace Wig

When it comes to choosing a wig, it’s crucial to consider your personal style, level of comfort, and maintenance routine. All three options – lace closure, lace frontal, and full lace – have their unique features that cater to different needs.

We understand that choosing the perfect lace wig can be tough for someone new to wigs so at HAIR COLLECTIONS we offer you a COMPLIMENTARY telephone or face to face consultation to guide you every step of the way.
